The Dying Art of Smoking (2012) is a series of over 60 subversively staged studio portraits of people smoking. By removing the cigarettes Héloise acknowledges the censorship laws and draws attention to the visual codes and body language of smoking. By confronting the public with large scale non-judgmental images, rather than clichéd propaganda, she acknowledges the legacy of advertising and invites debate of the current laws, propaganda and censorship surrounding smoking.
