Celine Marchbank and Laura Hynd show work alongside three other female photographers in this exhibition presented by Firecracker, as part of the London Festival of Photography. Each artist has developed inward-looking, personally reflective projects – not simply as observers but as active participants, allowing a glimpse into their private lives.
Celine Marchbank’s project ‘Tulip’ documents the remaining time spent with with her mother after she was diagnosed with cancer. Laura Hynd’s self portrait project ‘The Letting Go’ questions her perception of herself and experiments with loss of control and inhibition.
The exhibition coincides with the launch of the Firecracker Photographic Grant, which will be awarded in Autumn 2012 to support a European female photographer (applications will open 9th July, 2012).
